How to fix (just about) everything.

Jason Clarke

Almost every problem has its mirror opposite; consider these two facts:

20% of the world is starving

20% of the world is obese.

If you imagine these as two sides of the same problem you realise the problem isn’t How Much There Is but Who Gets What. That’s probably true for many things we say there’s not enough of (jobs, money, land, resources, time, love) – the problem isn’t supply; it’s distribution.

And why would that be?

BECAUSE WE DON’T SHARE.

There’s enough for everyone, but some of us want it all.

But having everything doesn’t make you happy; the richest and most privileged people/societies/nations on Earth are often the most miserable.

Why?

BECAUSE WE DON’T APPRECIATE WHAT WE HAVE.

We ignore our kids until they leave home. We ‘kill time’ until we run out of it.

We don’t know what we’ve got ‘til it’s gone.

Why?

BECAUSE WE VALUE THE WRONG THINGS.

How many of us do jobs we don’t like

to make money we don’t need

to buy stuff we don’t want

to impress people we can’t stand?

When we REALISE WHAT TRULY MATTERS we’re more likely to devote our time to things we actually care about, which means we’re more likely to APPRECIATE WHAT WE HAVE so we’d no longer feel the need to have more of anything.

Which would make it easier to SHARE WITH OTHERS.

Imagine how many of the world’s problems that might fix.
